Fic: ‘You should wear this.’
Title: You should wear this.
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia (movie)
Rating: (G)
Time Period: During events in the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe, before they return to this world.
Summary: Luckily, Mr Tumnus knew what it was called!

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

When writing What is it?, I had this scene in mind but it didn’t fit into What is it? because that was always meant to be a short, fun scene between the two sisters.

So, this one has popped along on its own and can be read either by itself or as the second of a pair with What is it? being the first of the two.

Lucy turns her head, left and right, as she peers under the bed. “It must be in the cupboard,” she murmurs and, once standing, runs to the wardrobe and flings open the door. She sighs, closing the door. “Where could it be?”

“Might I help?”

She looks up and runs to the door, her arms warm around the Faun. “Mr Tumnus!” She exclaims and grins. “You could help! You’d,” she adds, “be perfect for the job!”

His brows knit together as she leads him into the room. “Excuse me, Lucy Pevensie?”

“My cape,” she patiently explains. “I’ve lost it.”

“Your cape?”

Shaking her head, she looks to him. “You wear it over your shoulders and it falls down behind you.”

Oh,” he answers, understanding suddenly dawning. “You mean your cloak.”

“My ... what?”

“Cloak, Lucy Pevensie,” Mr Tumnus laughs. “It keeps you warm and covered, yes?”

“Yes! You know it?”

“Not yours, my friend, but now I know what we’re looking for, I can help,” he chuckles. “Why did you call it a ‘cape’?”

“That’s what Susan called it when we first saw one,” she replies. “It seems silly to call it that now.”

“We shall tell your sister what it is truly called when we find yours.” He holds up a red length of fabric just found on the end of her bed. “And if you’re going outside, you,” he wraps it about her neck, “should wear this.”
