Title: Alone, and it snows.
Fandom: Lord of the Rings (movies).
Rating: (G)
Time Period: After events in Lord of the Rings.
Summary: She remembers what has been said.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

Translation of the Elven can be seen on by running the mouse over the words. The first three dialogue of the italicised Elven comes from The Two Towers. The final, and the spoken, dialogue comes from The end of a dream.

She lifts her skirts, stepping over a fallen branch. The tree boles stand tall, bare, reaching for a sky dense with grey cloud. The ebony veil drifts from her hair; she does not look back.

I amar prestar aen. Han mathon ne nen. Han mathon ne chae a han noston ned 'wilith.

Her grandmother’s voice echoes amidst the empty trees. She stands still, her gaze drifting up to the flets she knows are there. She walks on, tears clouding her eyes.

A im ú-'erin veleth lîn?
Gerich meleth nîn, ada.

Many years has she lived in Gondor. Many years of joy tempered with grief. There was no ship that could now bear her West but she would never have gone as long as Aragorn had lived. He had been her life, her love.

She had given her heart and had received his in return. Her heart had never been torn, except once.

And then her father had accepted her inevitable fate, especially when confronted by the mortality he could feel in her hands.

Le no an-uir nîn?

The wind scatters fallen leaves and chills exposed flesh. She feels it not as she lays on Cerin Amroth and, finally, the tears fall.

“I have always been yours,” she whispers before her eyes close and snow falls.
