Fic: ‘Dressing to explore.’
Title: Dressing to explore.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (G)
Time Period: Between tPM and AotC.
Summary: Two sisters, one toy and a set of clothes!

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

I wanted to see a happier story than that toy shaak being left in the rain and Pooja purloining (I think that word will stay with me for a long while!) the clothes used by Ryoo for her pet came to mind!

The other stories involving this toy:
It won’t be easily lost
It won’t be moved!
Forgotten, and alone
No longer lost
Those pitiless eyes.

This story comes between It won’t be easily lost and It won’t be moved!.

Pooja taps a finger against her lips, her gaze travelling between the orange and purple shaak beside her and the clothes she’s purloined from her older sister.

She freezes, eyes widening and then covers everything on her bed with a brightly coloured, raggedy quilt.

Her sister’s voice comes closer and she sits next to the shaak. And decides at the last moment, just as the door opens, to sit the toy in her lap; her hands enclose around the toy, holding it close.

Ryoo stands in the doorway, her arms crossed as she glares at her sister. “Where are Sanani’s clothes?”

Pooja looks up, sunshiny innocence seen in glowing cheeks and eyes. “Aren’t they in your room?”

Ryoo’s eyes narrow as she glares at her sister. “You know they’re not.” It’s then she notices the checkered fabric around the shaak’s body and screeches. “That’s Sanani’s scarf!”

Pooja hugs the shaak. “It is not!”

“Yes it is!” She lunges at her younger sister who, just as Ryoo’s hands close around the orange and purple toy, pulls it away.

“Ryoo!” Their mother stands in the doorway. “What are you doing?”

“She took Sanani’s clothes! There’s the scarf aunt Padmé gave the last time she visited!”

Sola resists the urge to pinch the bridge of her nose and count to a very large, undetermined, number. Instead, she shakes her head and, with one hand, pulls her eldest daughter away from the younger. “That looks like a piece of material, to me,” she tells her oldest daughter, drawing her from the room. “Doesn’t Sanani need a meal right now before you both dress up?”

Reluctantly, Ryoo nods and, glowering at her sister, leaves. Pooja smiles, relief flooding her young body as her mother turns to leave. “Pooja?”

“Yes momma?”

“Return Sanani’s clothes.”

“We’re being explorers!”

Sola shakes her head, with a quiet laugh and gentle smile. “I will find a suitable scarf for your toy to wear but returning Sanani’s clothes must be done.”

“Yes, momma.”

Sola closes the door as she leaves and Pooja sighs, uncovering the small clothes on her bed. “We,” she sits the toy on the bed, “have to find you something else to wear.” She pauses, holding up a skirt with embroidered spirals along its hem. “And this would’ve been so very pretty for exploring!”
