Fic: ‘It came no more.’
Title: It came no more.
Fandom: Lord of the Rings (movies).
Rating: (G)
Time Period: When Isengard began its mechanisation.
Summary: The rain came no more.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

With the spoiling of Isengard, there might have been some sign that something was happening. In this drabble? It affected the rain.

With the exception of the original characters created purely for the purpose of the story, all characters contained herein are the intellectual property of JRR Tolkien, the Tolkien Estate and the Tolkien Trust & Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens (their interpretations); I am not affiliated with nor endorsed by them.

Regularly, it fell. Hard, fast, soft, gentle. It splattered on leaves and muddied trails. Cold, wet, whipping, warm. It trickled and plopped. It drove and sprinkled.

Then, it stopped. The air between them dried. The leaves, still green, reached hopefully toward the sky for clouds that came no more. Thick smoke wafted, sometimes, from a place once called home by many of their kind. Screams ripped through their bark and many reached down for the water that fell no more.

The streams still ran but their laughter was gone, lost with the clouds that didn’t return.

Then, the Orcs came.

It had to affect them in some way, what was happening at Isengard. This was just one way I could think of!
