She stands, peeler in hand. How could he have been contacted? She numbly asks. His phone was here the entire time.

She drops the peeler next to the rolling pins and collects her keys, her purse and phone. She doesn’t forget to check the top lock as she closes the door; she’s left the key he gave her inside.

She drives home, thinking over the dinner. Was it me? God, was it mum? She frowns thoughtfully, pulling her car into a parking space. No, it couldn’t have been mum; she was on her best behaviour all night.

She knows what it is; Billie had told her about losing his child. She knew he’d been married but she hadn’t known about their losing a child.

Is this why he’d turned to drugs? To cope with the loss of his child?

She parks and walks slowly up to her apartment, hoping Zara and Jimmy aren’t there; she couldn’t face them right now. Changing into sweats and lying on the couch, she closes her eyes and crosses her arms, laying them on her stomach. He lied to me, she quietly surmises. He couldn’t face me after talking with Billie.

But why not tell me about it?

She knows why not; she’d been stressed by what her family would think of the dinner and Patrick and she’d not told them about Patrick. As Billie said, they’d only been shagging for a couple weeks and then, pow! A Proudman family dinner where he opens up to Billie about losing his child.

God. How selfish had she been?

But, she asserts, he could have told me. She turns, now facing the side of her couch. What a conversation piece that would’ve been. ‘I know we’re shagging but did I tell you about losing my child with my ex?’

She rolls back onto her back and covers her face. I’ll talk to him tomorrow, she decides. I’ll see him at work and talk to him then. Will I be able to wait until I’ve walked miles away from everyone to ask or will I just ask when we’re surrounded by everyone?

That’s a question she knows she can’t answer now. She’ll simply wait until tomorrow and ask then. No use worrying about it until then.

What if he thought I couldn’t handle the truth?

She groans at herself and decides it’s time for bed.

Wow. Again with the great internal dialogue. Really makes me feel for Nina.

I've learned how to better integrate that internal dialogue.

This has been on my mind since Wednesday - how this 'elephant in the room' is going to play out. The promo gives a little insight but it's Nina's internal dialogue, which I think you've captured well here...the way she poses & answers her own questions/theories, that I'm looking forward to.

I've been curious about that as well!

... and I'm curious to see that bit from the promo with Patrick and that bear skin ... =D

You and me both!

And thank you, for taking the time to read and comment!
