Fic: ‘A new adventure begins.’
Title: A new adventure begins.
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia (movie)
Rating: (G)
Time Period: During: the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe - before the coronation.
Summary: Could they be what everyone hoped?

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

This is the third of three parts; I was going to post it in one fell swoop but I didn’t want to detract from each story and the moment it contained. So, three different parts!

I wasn’t very certain what characters to involve in this trio of stories and then, as I thought some more, I realised I already knew who I wanted to be in these stories: the Beavers, Mr Tumnus and Lucy. I’ve enjoyed writing for them in various other stories, especially over the 2010 ‘Tis the Season stories. With that in mind, who else could it be?

I wasn’t quite certain how this moment would turn out; the first story was humorous, the second more serious. We’ll see how this one goes.

If wanting to read this as a stand-alone, it can be read as so. If not wanting to read it on its own, Too great an honour came first, An honour safe with friends second and this story third.

All characters contained herein are the intellectual property of C. S. Lewis & and his estate as well as Andrew Adamson, Ann Peacock, Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (their interpretations); I am not affiliated with nor endorsed by them.

Walking along the sword-lined corridor, she felt every eye upon her; without realising, she stepped closer to Susan. Never had she been the centre of attention like this before and, instinctively, she sought her dear friend.

He wasn’t there. Where could he be?

Before she could frown, she looked forward and saw the thrones not far away; she smiled. Her mind cleared as she ascended the steps and her back was still to the crowded hall. Then she turned around and her tummy flipped over and over, feeling everyone’s eyes on her, burning with hope after one hundred years.

Could they be everything everyone hoped them to be?

Then her dear friend stepped forward after the Beavers and she smiled, relief flooding through her mind and calming her tummy. He was proud to be there and proud of her, his smile said, and he held the crown above her head. She bowed her head and he placed it carefully on her dark hair.

To the Glistening Eastern Sea, Queen Lucy, the Valiant.

It was done. Her part was done.

And a whole new adventure, she knew, would now begin.

Oh wow. This captures Lucy perfectly - her love for all the other Narnians, but in particular Tumnus.
