Fic: ‘Chaos descends.’
Title: Chaos descends.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (M)
Time Period: During RotS.
Summary: There was no harmony.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

This follows on from Loyalty proven, which followed on from Harmony understood, which followed on from Ignorance lost. All these stories can be read as a whole or on their own.

A warning: If having read Loyalty proven, tissues might be handy to have nearby.

His arm on his knee as he knelt, blue eyes seemingly calm as the tragedy unfolded before him. His expression was immobile as he watched the deaths of padawans and seasoned Knights and Masters. The younglings ...

Perhaps the younglings have hidden themselves, he told himself. Perhaps a padawan ...

His hand rose to cover his mouth. A youngling had run into the frame of the security footage. A human boy with brown hair and blue eyes. A human boy with a lightsabre; if he looked closely, he could see slight movement in the shadows.

“No,” he murmured. Tears rose unbidden.

A human brown-haired, blue-eyed boy with a lightsabre standing up the tall blonde Jedi with yellow eyes. The lightsabre was ignited and he watched, horror building, as he saw the inevitable fate of the small boy. The taller Jedi – Sith - had focused their attention on the boy standing before him, confident in his ability to catch the others.

This one boy, the continued dawn of his father’s life, stuck out his chin and raised his lightsabre challengingly.

“No.” If he denied it enough, then it wouldn’t happen.

The Sith turned his back on the boy and, with a casual backward slash, cut the boy down. He bowed his head, closing his eyes. He must have taken, or been given, the lightsabre. He ...

There is no ...

He couldn’t repeat the rest of that one line. There was no harmony in this particular moment. In this particular moment, he felt disconnected. Lost. He could not tell himself that this was simply another aspect of life. Of the Force.

This could not be set aside. He cared too much.

His fingers pinched the bridge of his nose and he squeezed his eyes closed more tightly. In two moments, he would watch the rest of the footage.

In two moments.

Because I didn't want to see it? It's heartbreaking.

... I’m sorry?

Poor Obi-Wan on Tatooine, after seeing that. Combined with the memory of Loyalty proven, that must’ve haunted him.
