Fic: ‘Tis the Season: A question asked.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: A question asked.
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia (movie)
Rating: (G)
Time Period: After events in the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe.
Summary: She had a jolly, lovely question to ask.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

This is the last of the short series of stories that were using an impromptu prompt for ‘Tis the Season and this prompt was ‘presents’ (the others were: winter, snow and mistletoe). With that in mind, I couldn’t resist this particular story!

As well as being the last of the impromptu prompt stories for ‘Tis the Season, it’s also the last ‘Tis the Season story for 2010. I hope everyone’s enjoyed them and that is a fitting end to the ‘Tis the Season stories for 2010.

Her hands behind her back, her gown sweeping the ground just barely, and upon her head a coronet of silver leaves, she carefully tiptoed behind the unsuspecting Faun who, in all reality, was very aware he was being followed; he simply chose to ignore it.

“Mr Tumnus?”

He jumped a little, to show he was startled, and turned to face the small Queen. “Yes, your Majesty?”

“I’ve told you to call me Lucy!”

“I’m sorry, Lucy Pevensie.” To add her surname was automatic; he was still impressed that she had come from the shining city of War Drobe, in the wondrous land of Spare Oom and to say her surname with her name? It was how he knew her. “May I,” he hastened to ask to forestall her insistence he still had it wrong, “ask what you would require of me?”

She regarded him solemnly for a very long moment. “Do you know what today is, Mr Tumnus?”

“I have not the faintest inkling of what today might be.”

She grinned and leaned closer. “It’s Christmas!” She whispered loudly and gave him a very warm hug. “Merry Christmas, Mr Tumnus.”

“And merry Christmas to you, Lucy Pevensie.” He paused. “Might I ask a question?”

“Of course,” she granted with a regal air that was quite lost in a giggle a moment later.

“Have you checked to see if Father Christmas has left ...”

She gasped and clapped her hands over her mouth. “... presents!” Immediately, she lifted her skirts, turned and ran!

Patiently, with a chuckle, Mr Tumnus followed in her wake.
