Fic: ‘rumination and memories: Padmé.’
Title: rumination and memories: Padmé.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (G)
Time Period: A quiet moment during the Clone Wars period, before RotS.
Summary: Thoughts about friendship and love.

Author's Note: To be perfectly honest, this particular story wasn’t meant to happen. How this came into being was due to my remembering something I’d written a few years and deciding to revisit it; parts of it, I knew, would need to be slightly rewritten, which was fine, and I’d write something ‘light and fluffy.’

‘Light and fluffy’ did not occur.

During the rewriting process, it became something else. It became a set of memories threaded together by a monologue at the beginning which are Padmé’s thoughts during a quiet moment before Revenge of the Sith, which were when they were originally meant to be.

Part I of VI.

Love is universal and encompasses many relationships. It is indefinable and yet it is something we seek to define, to categorise, in order to understand a fundamental aspect of our lives as sentient beings. It is indescribable but so easily described. It is a flame; it burns us with its passion and consumes us in heart and spirit.

It is a blaze of glory. The constant flame of a candle. It can ignite the stars with its purity and passion or it might burn steadily in the embers of one’s heart and spirit. It is as much a part of us as the air we breathe. Were I to ask a Jedi, I might be gifted with the answer that love is part of the Force.

I would not disagree.

Love connects us throughout the galaxy. We are bound by it. It is not merely an emotion like the passion of youth or the desire with which we burn to be with another. It is an integral aspect of friendship as it is the other relationships it defines. A care, a regard, that binds two people; it develops, it flows, it burns. When those bonds are strained, it hurts and confuses. If the strain is too much, it might break instead of bend and be beyond repair.

It can frighten with its intensity and calm with its gentility. It is cruel and kind, often at the same time. It is generous and it is mean. It is everywhere and nowhere. It can encompass the galaxy but also be contained within a solitary person or object. It can imprison.

Or it can open your heart and set you free.

Very eloquent and beautifully written. ♥
Thank you; I feel the original was possibly better written and it's good to hear that this one is thought to be very eloquent and well-written.

I can't think of a better way to describe love, especially from Padme's POV.
I originally wrote this to convey how she might perceive love and when rewriting this, I felt it showed what she thought, and possibly felt, better than the original.

Already, you've piqued my interest. :)
Yay! I hope the rest is as good as this beginning!
