Fic: ‘That frustrated feeling inside.’
Title: That frustrated feeling inside.
Fandom: Bones.
Rating: (G)
Time Period: During season 1, possibly during ‘A boy in the tree’.
Summary: No one seemed to care for the truth.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q. or check this post for the definition).

I wanted to set the precedent for pie; I have no idea why. I also like the idea of Booth and Temperance arguing about Sid serving coffee and not pie. However, the point of this, for me, is getting a feel for the characters. Maybe the argument about Wong Fu’s and pie could happen another time; I just don’t know yet.

Her cheek resting on her hand, she stared at the results without seeing them; she already knew what they would say – that the victim died of an overdose of the drug they’d suspected. Pressure was in from every side to make the findings to be what everyone wanted. The truth was inconsequential; why should it matter? No one seemed to care to know it.

She threw her pen on the results; it bounced until it hit the desk lamp and stopped. Both hands cradled her face gently as she sat, eyes closed and face in her hands. Did no one else care?

It was late; the only life in the lab came from the humming of the lights. Booth found her in her office, still sitting with her face in her hands. In his hand was a file he’d come to share but as he entered the office, he let it slide from his grip and onto the sofa. She didn’t hear him walk behind her and lay his hands on her shoulders, squeezing them to impart the warmth he knew she needed. It wasn’t much but in an office where one wall overlooked the lab, it would have to be enough.

She sat up, moving her face from her hands, and laid a hand over his. “Wong Fu’s?”

“Let’s go.” He wheeled her back from the desk and she stood, smiling at him, and grabbed her coat. He collected the file from the sofa. “We’ve got a break.”

“You were right,” she stated calmly, shrugging into her coat, as they walked from the office, pausing only long enough to turn off the lights and close the door.

“What did I tell you?” He crowed triumphantly. “Instinct before science!”

“I’ll buy you a piece of pie.”

Booth smiled, smugly. “Sid doesn’t serve pie.”

Wheeee! I love it! I always find it amazing that no matter what fandom, you capture the characters perfectly.

Wheeee! I love it!
Thank you; I wasn't certain about it.

I always find it amazing that no matter what fandom, you capture the characters perfectly.
I don't know if I would go so far to say that - I never feel as though I've captured the characters very well, or true to themselves, at all.
