Fic: ‘Tis the Season: For the children.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: For the children.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (G)
Time Period: Between AotC and RotS.
Summary: A favour asked.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q. or check this post for the definition).

I couldn’t resist imagining Obi-Wan in the red suit with matching hat for something silly for this, the last in the ‘Tis the Season. Without much further ado …

Laughter. Excitement. Chatter. Minus the Jedi General meant to walk into the room. Said Jedi general found himself pulled to one side before he could walk through the door. His lightsabre wasn’t needed but that didn’t mean this detainment wasn’t unlawful in any way. If he talked his way out of it, he could return to the room in time to have a taste of the food he could sense.

He’d been on the battlefield with only rations for longer than he cared to consider.

“M’lady, I believe you have de—”

A hand was placed over his mouth to muffle his words. “Senator Amidala asked me to keep you from entering the room in order to ask a favour of you.”

An eyebrow was arched.

“The being requested to deliver and give the presents was unavoidably waylaid,” drunk in a tavern on the lower levels, “and she had hoped you could present the gifts to the children.”

A hand gestured to the robes.

“She asked that you wear a hat and suit to disguise your identity, Master Jedi, in order not to scare any of the children.”

That eyebrow rose again, quizzically.

“They are the children of refugees fled their planets due to the Separatists and the Wars. Please, Master Jedi, there is no one else to do this for the Senator.”

He rested his hand the hilt of the lightsabre at his waist.

“Do you not think that Captain Typho minus his eye would scare them?”

A sigh, caught by the hand at his mouth, escaped him. He inclined his head once. The smile on the Handmaiden’s face spoke volumes of her relief and quite lightened her expression. She led him, hand still over his mouth, by wiggling a finger in a gesture meaning he should follow and only when he was in a small antechamber near the larger room’s door did she remove her hand. The suit intended to disguise his identity was draped over a chair. The hat accompanying it sat jauntily on the seat.

“She is joking, is she not?” He had seen the white ball on the end of the hat.

“To quote the Senator, she asked me to say: help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You are my only hope.

Another rush of air was released; at least there was no hand before his mouth this time. Padmé had said that to him the last time he’d had a chance away from the battlefields … under completely different circumstances. “Why this particular colour if I may ask?”

The Handmaiden began by handing him the trousers after taking his earth brown outer robe. “It is the suit that the delivery being would have worn.” He shook his head while shrugging into the coat after the coat and tightened the black belt. The Handmaiden adjusted the hat, letting the snowy ball dangle against the crimson of the coat. “There is a speeder waiting for you, filled with gifts.”

“I shall mention the strict obedience of her orders to the Senator.” He pretended not to see the knowing half-smile curving the girl’s lips. His lightsabre was hidden under the coat; he would not abandon it simply in case it was needed. He sketched a bow to the Handmaiden and it wasn’t until he was lowering in the speeder and handing out the gifts, seeing the smile on their faces that he knew with complete certainty it had been worth the sacrifice to his dignity.

That and the smile on the Senator’s face when he caught her eye.

That was so sweet!
Thank you! I was hoping it could be seen that way.

I love this series ;D
And again, thank you! I’ve enjoyed writing it, diving into different fandoms simply to produce some holiday stories as the ideas strike. It’s a shame that this story is the last in the ‘Tis the Season series.

Noooooo! I don't want it to be the last one....

How many times is the Santa hat going to be mentioned?

There'll be more next year.

How many times is the Santa hat going to be mentioned?
Quite often during a holiday season. Besides, don't overlook the suit in this one.

I wasn't overlooking the suit; but it's the hat that repeats time and time again! Especially with Obi seemingly.

Can you imagine a less likely candidate to be wearing the hat?

Aww, that brought warm feelings to my heart.
I’m glad; I was hoping this could do that due to the series it was in and it’s wonderful to hear that!

(Sorry, a little late revieiwing).
Not a problem; it was a great surprise to see any of the ‘Tis the Season stories get comments after I wrote them and that they had such a nice effect on people, even after all this time.

It was a wonderful surprise.
