Rating: (G)
Time Period: Season 1, after Girl Meets Home for the Holidays.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

I seem to be writing a lot about the food of the season this year!

He sits on one side, his father the other. Between them is a single bowl filled to its brim with jelly beans and other lollies, wrapped and otherwise. His eyes don't move from his father who's looking at his son nonchalantly.

And just as casually picks up the bowl of candy.

“Auggie, I want to teach you a lesson.”

“I'm not Riley!”

“But you want to know the best way to eat this candy, right?”

“I'm listening.”

He sets the bowl down again between them. “This is the last of the candy we bought for the holiday, right?”

He watches his father closely. “Yes ...”

“And I've no doubt that you want to eat it, correct?”

He doesn't move except to narrow his eyes suspiciously.

“I thought as much. Now, do you have pockets?”

“You know I do.”

“So, each time you walk past, take a handful from the bowl, pocket it and walk away. No one will know you've done it and will assume everyone else did it, eating it throughout the day.”

“But you'll know!”

“I didn't say there wasn't an element of risk involved.”

“You just want it for yourself! You could eat it between times I take some!”

“Can't trick you, huh bud?”

“So why don't we share it? That way we both get candy.”

Auggie tilts his head briefly then emphatically nods and extends his hand. “Deal!”

Cory shakes.

Some time later, Topanga hears groans. Low, long groans from the living room. Frowning, she puts her book down, taking note of the page, and hurries down the hall to the door that leads into their kitchen living room area. Then she stops, a hand on the doorway.

In front of the sofa her two boys groan, arms wrapped around their tummies. Around them are wrappers and the candy bowl she'd left on the table earlier.

With a shake of her head, she enters the room. “Do you need some alka seltzer?”

All she gets in return are groans.

Simply adorable.

Really love the 'I'm not Riley' line as well.
