Fic: ‘Tis the Season: A prayer for Father Christmas.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: A prayer for Father Christmas.
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia
Rating: (PG)
Time Period: After the Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Summary: Lucy prays.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

It's close to Christmas for her and I could see this so vividly ... You also had to know I'd return to Lucy while I got used to Narnia again!

It was a good room. A room that fit her needs, such as they were. She smiles at the picture on the wall, knowing that her new friends were … that her friends …

Her lower lip trembles and, with the back of her hand, dashes at the tears that aren't forming there.

Not until it's night does she kneel by her bed, clasp her hands, rest her elbows on the mattress. With the covers are turned back, she closes her eyes.

“Father Christmas, please hear my prayer,” she murmurs against the bare skin of her hands. “It's Lucy,” she adds. “Queen Lucy Pevensie of Narnia.” It couldn't hurt to add her title, could it? She just wanted him to know who she was.

“I know I'm old but please, look after Susan and Peter while they're away.”

A deep breath before she plunges further. A deep breath to bolster nerves fraying in case she was heard.

“Please, too, look after Caspian and Reepicheep and everyone in Narnia.

“Please. Thank you, Father Christmas.”

She opens her eyes, turns off the light, jumps into bed.

And pulls the comforter up so no one can hear her tears.

Excellent! (I feel like Keanu Reeves in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure by saying it now!)
