Fic: 'Worse, it could have been.'
Title: Worse, it could have been.
Fandom: Star Wars.
Rating: (G)
Time Period: Between tPM & AotC.
Summary: Uh oh, Obi-Wan's in trouble.

Author's Note: This 'fic is 'quick 'n' dirty (for definition of this term, check the F. A. Q.). Inspiration for this idea came from nowhere and it amused me, very much. So, this was scribbled into Word and then posted to share the amusement with others. I merely hope I've not mangled the characters too much; it's been a while since I've written Yoda.

Leaning on the gimer stick, his tri-fingered hand flexed as he studied the Jedi kneeling before him. The Jedi’s cheeks were flushed and a soft breath escaped him; it wasn’t a sigh but it was close.

“A Jedi you act not. A youngling ...”

The young man didn’t wince from the almost querulous tone. He was merely relieved his Padawan was nowhere near.

“A class you should join, Obi-Wan. Teach much the younglings will.”

“Yes, Master.”

“One day, lose a planet you will. Lose this Senator you will not.”

Unbidden, memories of lips, hands and an almost discarded outer robe rose to the fore of the Jedi’s mind and once more he was relieved his Padawan wasn’t in the room. If there was anything at which Anakin was skilled, it was sensing his Master’s discomfort and this particular situation wasn’t one he wished his Padawan to know about. “Master Yoda, this will be kept between yourself and I as well as the Senator?”

Was that a pursing of the older Master’s lips?

“Mention this I will not. Join my class you will. Your Padawan you will also bring.”

“Yes Master.”

“See this Senator I know you will.” Another almost-sigh. “Discreet you will be.”

“Yes Master.”

With a slight shake of his head, the older Master turned to leave the room before he paused. He could sense the person directly outside the door. “Leave before me you must. Tomorrow I will teach you.”

In fluid motions, he rose, bowing to the older Jedi. “Tomorrow, Master.”

Green eyes within a wizened face watched the younger Jedi leave the room; he knew Obi-Wan would greet and reassure his lover as to what had happened upon being caught by the Grand Master of the Jedi. He would give them time to depart for more suitable quarters before leaving the room. A creaky chuckle echoed in the large room.

Worse it could have been; Obi-Wan might’ve been a droid determined to take his stew!

Ha ha, they really should have made reference to Yoda's culinary preferences in the prequels. I like how you portray him here, he's the most fun when he's mischievous.

Between tPM and AoTC is my favourite period for Obidala, so it was lovely to read this. This icon really helped too, I could just picture the scene!

I wish they had! The only reference to his culinary likes was in a Clone Wars novel; I didn't really like the novel but I did like a scene where Yoda whacking a droid that's trying to take his bowl because the contents aren't classified as 'food.' It was a great small scene and I loved being able to incorporate that.

Thank you! It's been quite a while since I've written anything about/involving Yoda and this has always been a way I like to portray him. He's a fun character!

It's one of my favourite periods as well. It feels a lot more flexible than many other periods within this era.

This icon really helped too, I could just picture the scene!
I was delighted to find this icon! It really helped me shape what'd happen in the story. Once I found it, everything fell into place and I'm glad it was such a useful aid in imagining the scene.

Oy vey, but, wasn't it funny?

Oh yes. It was funny. Hilarious, even.

What a fun read! I was smiling all the way through. You captured Yoda (as I view him, at any rate) to a tee, especially at the end. I really enjoyed the buildup—not knowing what they were speaking of until the end. It made the second read trough that much more enjoyable. And, of course, Obidala is love.

That's one of the best things I can hear; I'm glad this brought a smile and was enjoyable.

Of all the characters in the Star Wars universe, Yoda's one of my favourite to write. I'm glad I was able to make him come alive for you.

I really enjoyed the buildup—not knowing what they were speaking of until the end. It made the second read trough that much more enjoyable.
The buildup was what I liked best about this story, admittedly. I think it's part of the humour of the story or adds to it.

And, of course, Obidala is love.
Ooooh yes!

I also wanted to thank you for doing the set that the icon came from. As mentioned to mya_scarlet, the story really gained shape once I found the icon.

Oh that was a fun read.

I love it when I get this huge smile across my face by reading. Which you accomplished very well.

I love Obidala. Lovely job! :D

Oh that was a fun read.
Thank you; that caused a smile of my own to grow.

This is high praise, as mentioned with emiv. It's a lovely compliment to know that you manage to make someone else smile.

I love Obidala. Lovely job! :D
It's a pairing I know I certainly have fun writing (the story with naked Obi-Wan comes to mind). And thank you! The point of this story was to write a story that was fun for everyone and for me.
