Fic: ‘Tis the Season: A lovely afternoon.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: A lovely afternoon.
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia (movie)
Rating: (G)
Time Period: the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe: during the Golden Age.
Summary: Susan reads.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

After ‘Tis the Season: How lovely it is, I was wondering if I could write a summer story during this time. The M&Ms went to a whole other country where it was summer this year but it wasn’t summer like winter and snow in ‘Tis the Season: How lovely it is.

Then this idea popped to mind.

Surrounded by wildflowers, her skirt pooling around her, she doesn’t look away from her book. Eventually, she turns the page; the close observer will see it’s upside down.

Brown hair slipping over her shoulders and down her back, she glances first left, then right. Her hand rests on the open page; she looks up, smelling the lawn, the flowers, the trees.

A sigh escapes her, soft and deep. Happiness, she feels, cannot describe her right now; contentment might be the better word to describe her. A caress skims along her bare arms --- the sun making its presence known. A gentle breeze along her neck.

She knows Lucy likes the winter best --- who wouldn’t, with Father Christmas? --- or, at least, finds joy in all seasons but this afternoon?

A deep breath and her gaze returns to the book.
