Fic: ‘Tis the Season: Nope.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: Nope.
Fandom: M&Ms.
Rating: (G)
Time Period: The following year, after they meet Santa.
Summary: Peanut refuses.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

This is the next day after ‘Tis the Season: Safe.

To my understanding, this is a custom in the Netherlands/Holland. What happens is that the children are given the first letter of their name made from chocolate. They eat it. It only happens at Christmas, from what I know.

Peanut looks at the giant chocolate P in his hands; at least, he tells himself, it has pretty gold wrapping. “I dunno ...”

“We’re in a new country for Christmas. The least we can do is follow the customs.”

“This isn’t a custom for this country.” Peanut looks at Red. “It’s Dutch.”

“What is?”

“This custom.” He holds up the P, using it to point at the R Red holds. “I know.”

“How do you know?” Red drawls as he sits.

“I looked it up on the intarnet when you mentioned it.”

Red sighs. Again. It’s the fifth time since he’s sighed since mentioning this. “We can do this, Peanut.”

“There’s no Gary in it?”

“But it’s horrible!” Peanut protests as he sits on the bed’s end. “It’s like ... like eating us.”

Red sighs. Again. It’s the sixth time now. He points to the open window. “New country. New seasonal customs---”

“--- that don’t belong to this country ---”

“--- that don’t belong to--look. Let’s try it.”

Peanut puts them P down and crosses his arms. “Nope.”

Red sighs.

You mean eating chocolade letters at Christmastime isn't a worldwide custom?
