Fic: ‘Tis the Season: How lovely it is.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: How lovely it is.
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia (movie)
Rating: (G)
Time Period: the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe: during the Golden Age.
Summary: Lucy makes a request.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

For some odd reason, I kept thinking cinnamon was on this year’s ‘Tis the Season prompt table. It’s not. Neither is snow; winter is, though, which is probably why I thought snow was.

Combine this with numerous stories in mind and it’s been odd. This story was the victor. For snow.

Sitting on the seat below the window, her nose pressed to the glass and a hand beside it, she sighs happily as she watches the falling white flakes. She shouldn’t like it as much as she does, she knows, but she cannot help it. The White Witch is gone now and the snowflakes don’t hold terror for her.

“Isn’t the snow lovely?”

“No,” he replies; he knows the young Queen heard his approach on the stone. “I do not find it at all lovely.”

She turns, facing him. “But it is lovely. Fresh and clean for the coming season.”

“Yes, but those who were in Narnia before you came remember who used it.”

“It isn’t that way now,” she exclaims. “We wouldn’t let it.”

“Let us become used to it, yo—Lucy ... Pevensie.” He had tried not to say that last but it slipped out before he could stop it. “Narnians need the time to become used to the snow, the winter, not being as it was.”

All right,” she assents and turns back to the window. “But I want you to remember something for me.”

“And that would be, you—Lucy Pevensie?”

She briefly glares at him; he knows it is because of the almost spoken your Highness, naught else. “That the snow is lovely, whether you think it is or not.”

He smiles, faintly, and bows. “As you wish, yo—Lucy Pevensie. As you wish.”
