Fic: ‘Not just yet.’
Title: Not just yet.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (G)
Time Period: Between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
Summary: He won’t go in just yet.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

Sorting through ideas, this came to mind so it was quietly written and I returned to those other ideas.

All characters contained herein are the intellectual property of Lucas; I am not affiliated with nor endorsed by him.

Slow, even, her chest rises and falls. Her eyelids briefly flutter but stay closed. Gently, he lifts curls that had fallen across her cheek and tucks them behind her ear; she murmurs and turns in her sleep, away from him and toward the window.

Quietly chuckling, he pulls the covering over her shoulder before he rises, stretching once he stands. He reaches for his nearby robe, wrapping it around himself as he steps from room to balcony; a sudden transition from warmth to cool night. He folds his arms and tilts his head toward distantly cold, sharp stars. Sweet scents sweep past him; waves tickle the shore.

In the face of this pastoral peace, it is hard to believe soldiers are dying in mud and rain that slog the average clone; it is hard to believe he has saved entire populations from death. His reality, he knows, are shouted orders, life-and-death decisions, edged repartee with his former padawan. This is far from that; his sanctuary against it.

Fat drops splat against the railing, into the welcoming lake. The corners of his lips curve briefly, lazily, as a deep breath is taken in and then, slowly, released. He wants to turn, to change from cold to warmth but he remains, still and silent.

The drops softly pound the roof, the balcony. Another deep breath and his gaze drops, from stars to lake. He will go inside but not just yet.

Poor, poor Obi. I really feel for him at times like this.

It's hard to explain; but basically he reads like he's trying to deny the war; but deep down he knows he can't. But maybe he can; just for a bit... but it makes the going back all the worse. Maybe I'm reading too much into it...

I don't think you are.

This is soft and beautiful. Well done as always. The like the idea that Obi-Wan has a sort of sanctuary from the reality of war (in my fandom it's Qui) here it's Padme'. Either way, nice for Obi-Wan to have some piece of mind and heart. Sorry, I'm babbling lol

Thank you! I was having doubts about this scene, about whether it worked and I'm really glad to know that it did.

nice for Obi-Wan to have some piece of mind and
Everyone needs a place like that and Naboo offered that, I felt.

Sorry, I'm babbling lol
Don't worry about babbling; it's really great to see someone else do it instead of myself!

Sheesh! I keep typoing!
