Fic: ‘You cannot come where I now go.’
Title: You cannot come where I now go.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (G)
Time Period: RotS: days after Padmé’s funeral.
Summary: Pooja says goodbye to a dearly beloved friend.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

This is the final story from that cycle of stories about that stuffed shaak! I’ve been putting this story off for a li’l while but I knew this particular story was coming and that I’d have to face it.

So, here it is.

The other stories involving this toy:
It won’t be easily lost
Dressing to explore
It won’t be moved!
Forgotten, and alone
No longer lost
Those pitiless eyes.

This story comes between It won’t be moved! and Forgotten, and alone.

It is, perhaps, days after she stood on the bridge between the Funerary Temple and Livet Tower that she decides childish things must be packed away. Wearing the dark hooded cloak she’d worn that day, she picks up the toy.

Pale, quiet, she walks to a cupboard she rarely, if ever, opens. Biting her lip, she stands on tiptoe and sits the shaak in the corner of the shelf. Tears prick the corners of her eyes and she blinks them away.

Unsuccessfully.

Her hands trembles on the cupboard door as she starts to close it; the shaak’s eyes watch her, impassively, where it sits. “I have to,” she whispers. “You cannot come where I now go.”

She bobs out of sight but returns, her gaze never wavering from her beloved friend. “Forgive me,” she finally murmurs, almost unheard. The door to the cupboard closes and she vanishes from view.

*sniffles* The putting away of toys I always find a very sad moment. Even though when it happens in reality I don't find it sad at all.

That seems so very odd! But, I feel, this putting away of such a beloved toy the more sad due to why she put it away and not simply the reason she said to the toy.

*sniff* poor shaak. And poor pooja. I've loved this series of stories, thank you for writing them!

I had the tissues out when writing this because I remembered the next story for the shaak and when Pooja met the toy again in her father's study. Sniffles galore! So, I'm very glad to know I'm not (wasn't) the only one sniffling!

I've loved this series of stories, thank you for writing them!
You're very welcome! I expected a trio of stories for this toy and not the series it became!
