Fic: ‘He will never be free.’
Title: He will never be free.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (G)
Time Period: Between tPM & AotC.
Summary: He doesn’t wish to be free.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

When writing rumination and memories: Padmé, I very lightly touched upon the love held for Padmé by Typho. This, very quietly, stayed in the back of my mind until now, when it reared its head. It feels very natural to have written this brief moment and how exquisite a torture it must have been to work for the woman he loved and never voice it.

He stands in the sitting room, his eyes upon the solitary figure leaning thoughtfully on the balcony railing. He cannot look away and he is loathe to disturb.

Soft skin beckons; his fingers itch to touch. His lips part, without his knowledge; he can feel her lips on his, smothering them with passion. His arms tingle, with a ghostly embrace of his mind; she is pressed against him, whispering velveteen nothings in his ear.

“Captain Typho,” she greets smoothly; she’d not known he was there but a politician has words for every occasion, he knows, and she never allows surprise to show.

“M’lady,” he hoarsely replies and coughs to clear his throat. Her voice enchants; a liquid drug to his ears. “Senator Organa awaits outside.”

“Show him in,” she smiles and his cheeks, incrementally, darken. She doesn’t see it since he’s turned away, to signal the waiting Senator should be shown in. He bows from the waist and departs; he’ll be nearby but he knows he’s not privy to Senate business.

He hears low words as he leaves the room, her light laughter. He closes his eyes once he’s left the room. He’ll never be free, he knows, even in death; hers or his.

And, if he’s truthful, nor does he wish to be.

I'd hate to be in his shoes.

Yeah; loving Padme seems to be a very dangerous thing to do.

Well Anakin goes dark; Obi lives the rest of his life alone...

That depends on which Obidala you read.

Aw Typho ♥ I feel sorry for him!

It must've been very hard for him!

Now it's funny you mention this because it's certainly easy to think Typho could harbor hidden feelings for Padme. Nicely done! I always liked him and felt he was under-used in SW.

I can't remember where it was but it was mentioned somewhere, I believe in a novel set after RotS, that he had feelings for her and even confronted Vader about her death.

Thank you! And as have I. I'm surprised I didn't write for him sooner.

Whoa. This one's kind of intense! His longing for her here is painfully strong and real and really permeates the story; it's akin to worship. Love it. I love the ending too, so sad and honest. For me it implied that, regardless of his passionate feelings, he is content with being who she needs him to be; that he is grateful for how close he can be, that it's enough.

You've made me think quite a lot about a character that, until a day ago, I never gave a passing thought. And you've made him damn interesting to boot. :D

That's all I could ask for!

And you've made him damn interesting to boot. :D
That was an accident!
