“You’ve never jumped in a puddle?”

“You forget, Lucy Pevensie, there haven’t been puddles in Narnia for one hundred years.”

“There are now.”

At their feet lay a puddle. Followed by another. Both very large, not very shallow and both very wet. Lucy gathered her skirts and held up a daintily clad foot, and grinned.

The Faun knew that expression and stepped back, with his umbrella before him.

“It’s only water, Mr Tumnus,” she explained and reached for a hand. He shook his hand, watching her carefully. Lucy laughed, grabbed an arm instead and tugged him forward. He teetered on the edge of the puddle but caught his balance. “After three. One.

“Two.” She tightened her grip on his arm and tugged him forward while she splashed from one puddle to the next, the force of her jumping catching him off-guard and he fell into the puddles, losing his umbrella in the process. When the water sploshed against her skirt, gluing it to her legs, she turned, almost toppled but righted her balance, and burst into giggles at the sight that met her eyes.

Mr Tumnus, on his bottom, dripping water from top to toe, and his umbrella behind him. His scarf dangled around his neck and trailed into the water. “I don’t see what’s so funny,” he grumbled and started to rise when his hooves slipped in the mud and he fell into the puddle with a gigantic splash!

Lucy opened her mouth but only giggles issued forth. She clapped her hands over her mouth but she couldn’t fully muffle the hilarity falling so freely.

“Would you be very kind and help me?”

Lucy nodded and stepped over to him, her giggles finally subdued although one escaped every few moments. He clasped her hand when she held it out and, with a cheerful curve of his lips that was not-quite-a-grin, he tugged her into the puddle beside him.

Yeah; it signifies everything about them really. It just seems like something they'd do.
