Fic: ‘Tis the Season: A gift given.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: A gift given.
Fandom: Star Wars.
Rating: (M)
Time Period: Sometime between AotC & RotS.
Summary: And ‘t’is given.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q. or check this post for the definition).

This is silly holiday fun, which is why I like the ‘Tis the Season series of holiday stories; the characters may, or may not, be in character as it’s been a while since I’ve written for them!

These weren’t written to be in any particular order as a group of four; in fact, I hadn’t meant to continue this particular set of ‘Tis the Season stories beyond It should’ve been left behind but curiosity got the better of me! If wanting to read these particular ‘Tis the Season stories in chronological order, the order is:
A gift begun
Easier to think
It should’ve been left behind
A gift given

This comes after It should’ve been left behind, chronologically. Part II of II of the A gift begun pair.

Leaning forward, he reached for the discarded red ... hat, he informed himself; it was a hat. The snow white bobble at the end of it jiggled merrily against the bare skin of his shoulder. The red patchwork of the hat in its entirety splashed eerily like blood against the pale sheets.

At the movement and replacing of the hat he found very offensive (against his dignity, he’d protested), she delicately arched an eyebrow. Her hair fell in waves over and behind her shoulders as she watched him leaving the room. Curiosity forced her to glance at the chronometer until his return with the small box she’d placed on the chair in her dressing room. “What ...” she began but he placed a finger against her lips to silence the questions.

The box was small, battered from its trip in the starfighter; the ribbon decorating the plain paper around it had fallen from one corner and dangled forlornly. Whoever had tied the dark maroon ribbon clearly had no experience in such matters, she noted amusedly. He flicked the end of the red hat over his shoulder and offered her the small gift. “... for me?” She asked softly, awed that he would think of such a trifle in the midst of the Wars that surrounded him.

A faint flush, pink, crept along the back of his neck. “For you,” he confirmed and watched as she gently untied the ribbon. “I think,” he snuggled closer to whisper in her ear, “you can be rougher than that in the unopening.”

She laughed and tore the paper off and caught the box that fell from it. With a smile, she lifted the lid and gasped when she saw the small carved item within. With care, she lifted the polished figure from the box and traced its curves, the lines of the body, with a light fingertip. For several moments, she could not look away from the small figure in her hand and when she did, unshed tears winked in the dimmed light of the wish globes. “It’s the Goddess of Safety,” she whispered.

“To keep you safe when I cannot be there,” he closed his hand over hers, the carved figure caught between the two. “I know you, Senator Amidala,” he whispered fiercely. “She should be there when I am not.”

Their two hands raised now between them, she closed the space between them, her lips pressed against his. “Thank you,” a breathless whisper against his lips. “Thank you.”

That was so very touching...

Leave it to Obi-Wan to be so thoughtful.

I have this huge smile upon my face.

And thanks for not having me wait so long to find out what Obi-Wan made Padme.

I've had a very big smile while writing these four stories so it's very lovely to know that this story brought a huge smile to your face; it's what the 'Tis the Season stories are all about. =D

And thanks for not having me wait so long to find out what Obi-Wan made Padme.
You're very welcome; my own curiosity got the better of me - I wanted to know as well!

That's wonderful to hear!

And I hope this has settled the mystery of the box!

Hi again. Lovely writing. Being a fan of Obi-Wan, I have to say you write his voice an mannerisms very well. I had to find out what was in the box. lol

Thank you very much; until these stories, I'd not written Obi-Wan for months and your words have assured me that I can still write him, even after months of not. Thank you very much!

I had to find out what was in the box. lol
The allure of that box! =P

If I may ask: how so?

It's hard to explain. It just makes me a bit sniffly.
