Fic: ‘Tis the Season: It should’ve been left behind.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: It should’ve been left behind.
Fandom: Star Wars.
Rating: (G)
Time Period: Sometime between AotC & RotS.
Summary: It should have been left behind.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q. or check this post for the definition).

This is silly holiday fun, which is why I like the ‘Tis the Season series of holiday stories; the characters may, or may not, be in character as it’s been a while since I’ve written for them! This is part II of II of Easier to think.

The end of day, she sat before a mirror, lifting the head-dress her Handmaidens had insisted she wear from her head. Setting it down before her, she began removing the pins and combs that had tucked her hair under the head-dress, putting them in the small bowl beside the head-dress. Brown eyes strayed toward the mirror, almost unwillingly, and she gasped.

In the doorway behind her stood a bearded Jedi, blue eyes subdued with self-awareness – he knew how foolish he looked – and his hands were behind his back.

She stood, turning and then running to the Jedi, her lips forming a delighted smile that felt foreign after these months of war. “You’re here,” she murmured as she reached to ... suddenly laugh as she realised what he was wearing. With a step backward to admire, a hand rose to cover her mouth, to hide the laughter that was still heard in soft peals.

Atop the Jedi General’s head was a hat, its long tail falling over his shoulder and ending with a white bobble. A band of white fur sat atop his brow but what caught her eye was the colour of the hat: red. Not just any red but one that was brighter for its patchwork; patches of red cloth, varying in depth of colour from the very bright to the darker crimson, had been stitched together to form the body of the hat.

She couldn’t help another laugh; this time, her hand was nowhere in sight to stifle it.

His hands appeared from behind his back, holding a small, battered box. “For you, m’lady,” he offered with a bow.

She accepted the box and placed it on the seat behind her before enveloping him in a big hug. “Yes, you are,” she murmured before taking his hand and leading him into the room beyond. “Please don’t.”

He sighed and lowered his hand from the offending article. “Not even ...?” The question trailed off hopefully.

“Not even then.”

Perhaps, he mused as he followed the Senator, it would have been easier to leave it behind.

Poor Obi-Wan; each year, he's got to suffer the indignities of the Santa hat! =P

I'm mean that way!

It's totally worth it though :D
I totally agree; I've always gotten a good laugh out of Obi/Santa hat stories. I'm pondering whether I'll put him in the Santa suit again this year as part of this series of stories!

Obi-Wan and Santa hats, are becoming a Christmas tradition. :D
It's been a Christmas tradition since 2006 when I wrote, on a whim, It Was The Hat. It's been a fun one to maintain!

... what's in the box? Simple. It's a santa hat! Or that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

Why a Santa hat?
Armchair DM: Igor & Carson: Waitingarmchairdm on December 8th, 2010 10:57 am (UTC)
