Fic: ‘Tis the Season: A heart’s wish granted.
Title: ‘Tis the Season: A heart’s wish granted.
Fandom: Star Wars.
Rating: (G)
Time Period: Sometime between AotC & RotS.
Summary: At the end of a long night, a surprise.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q. or check this post for the definition).

After writing Within a moment, I felt tugged toward this idea by the music I’d listened to when I wrote that piece of fanfic: All I Want For Christmas, as sung by Olivia Olson.

This is part II of II.
Part I: A credit for the sweetmallow?

That voice was one she had remembered and imagined so often. “Do wisps of lonely imaginations have credits?” Finally, she looked and saw the familiar beard and weary smile. Her heart beat rapidly but it wasn’t enough to make her leap to her feet and run to him; she had seen him too often in waking dreams and at night when she slept. She understood this apparition might be due to having seen Jedi tunics all evening, few as they had been.

“I could not wait to see you, Padmé.” He stepped closer. “My heart has yearned for your presence more than once.”

“This is nothing but a dream, a wish the heart has made and on this evening about the celebration of life, of love, of hope, you are nothing but a dream,” she brokenly whispered.

“I am no dream.” He stepped closer still, crouched at her side and lifted the sweetmallow, red and white striped, from her fingers. “I am, perhaps, a wish but I am no dream.” He dropped the sweetmallow to the floor.

She choked, sobs rising unbidden, and simultaneously, they came into each other’s arms, holding each other as though they would vanish at any moment. He pulled back, his curved fingers brushing against a suddenly tear-stained cheek. “Is this real?”

“It is real,” he assured. “Otherwise, this is a cruel trick the Force has played on us both.” His lips pressed against hers before she could reply and her arms wrapped about him, pulling him closer once again, and all she could think was to be thankful to this night that had become magical with one question, the sound of a voice.

I admit it. This one actually made me feel emotional; and I'm not a SW fan in general; or an obidala fan in particular. But this one actually made me feel teary; and fics about non-canon ships rarely do. Well done.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

That is a great compliment, thank you.

Might I ask why I made you emotional?

I don't know exactly. Maybe that it made me feel sorry for Obi and Padme; that this seems to be holding out to them what they're not going to have; and stay true to the characters.

Be still my heart.

"I am no dream." OMG, talk about turning into a pile of mush.

And the very ending; "the sound of a voice", was magical.

You sure put a smile on my face! :D

Hearing that has made my day – I was hoping not to be the only one turning into a pile of mush with those words.

You sure put a smile on my face! :D
It was my pleasure! I’m very glad you enjoyed the ‘fic.

I was tempted to leave it at that first part but it felt mean to have the first part end and not know what happened next.

Great job!
Thank you! I wrote these ‘Tis the Season stories on a whim that’s continued right until this week and it’s good to know that people other than myself are enjoying them.

That was so beautiful! It just shows how lovely the pairing is and you write them so well!

Everything about Obi-Wan makes me sigh with longing. “My heart has yearned for your presence more than once.” “I am no dream.” “I am, perhaps, a wish but I am no dream.” He is so romantic =)*squee*

That is such a relief to hear! I wasn’t certain if he seemed romantic or not!
