Fic: 'Only tonight.'
Title: Only tonight.
Fandom: Torchwood.
Rating: (PG), at least.
Time Period: End of Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (season 2, episode 1).
Summary: Jack was back.

Author's Note: This is quick 'n' dirty (for definition, see the F. A. Q.) and the inspiration is from having seen the first episode for Torchwood's second season, which meant I returned to watch the final two episodes of the 1st season followed swiftly by the final three episodes of Doctor Who's previous season (modern, not classic) and then back to see Jack's return. Basically, this is unplanned and I'm hoping that it turned out okay considering a complete lack of fiction writing lately.

Late, in his office, Jack’s arms wrapped about him and he couldn’t say how much he’d missed this. Jack’s arms. Jack’s scent. He intended to make Jack pay for being away from him. There was the upcoming date; he’d checked about whether it would still happen since Jack’d asked him during a night that now had never existed. The date could be used but, for right now, Jack was here.

And he was in those arms he’d missed so much.

“Are you certain you won’t go back to this Doctor of yours?” He swallowed, pulling back just enough to see that face at a slight angle. Need forced him to ask softly, in an almost-whisper. “Right away, I mean.”

“Yes,” came the murmur by his ear. “For a year that never was, Ianto, you were all I could think about.”

He knew Jack’d thought about the team, yet, that moment after he’d returned, in the office after killing the landfish as Tosh’d called it, Jack’d said he’d returned for the team but in the split second before he’d corrected himself, he’d looked at Ianto and that look had spoken clearly what he’d covered up with the correction. With the memory recalled, his arms tightened about Jack, his face buried in the other man’s shoulder and neck.

It’d almost killed him with worry when Jack had left as he had and left no word. Nothing. He ...

“Is the date still on?”

The cheekiness of that American drawl was enough to make him chuckle, quietly. “How else will you make it up to me?”

“I had some ideas that involved the stopwatch and my desk. If we got that far.”

“Only tonight Jack. Tomorrow, we return to your suffering and trying to make it up to me. Coffee should be first ...” He never got to finish that sentence as Jack greedily claimed his lips, even if it was only to make him stop talking.

Only tonight. A night he’d already lived except this time he’d be trying to forget the kiss he’d seen on that rooftop between Jack and John. “I’m timing you Jack,” he panted, breath mingling due to their closeness.

The resultant sound of cloth tearing was enough to make him forget. For now.

It's probably known I'm not the hugest Torchwood fan out there. Just like I prefer Classic Who.

However, having said that, this really is a beautiful fic. And it fits in /perfectly/ with season 2 of Torchwood, from what I've seen.

So /that's/ what the stopwatch is for!

I didn't know that.

Just like I prefer Classic Who.
Nor that.

It does? For that, then, I'm glad because I wasn't certain if it did. It's a first Torchwood 'fic, as you know, and this just yelled at me to be written with all the silent moments of Ianto/Jack throughout this particular episode.

So /that's/ what the stopwatch is for!
... that, and more.

Yeah, it really does. It gets away with stuff that I don't think Who should; and not just the overtly adult themes. I'll go into this more at another time I think.

And I seriously don't want to know what else the stop watch is for.

It'd be fun to know!

Which, quite possibly is why I like Torchwood - there's a lot more to sink your teeth into with the adult themes; also, I'm just dark and twisted in some ways which Torchwood is, unlike Who.

Never seen Torchwood, but that was quite good.

Nice to see you back writing, again. :)

Never seen Torchwood, but that was quite good.
Thank you very kindly!

Nice to see you back writing, again. :)
Thank you! I've not stopped writing totally; I have a non-fiction journal that I try to write a lot in and I'm presently working on a Star Wars</i? 'fic. This was a nice aside to help me realise that I could still write.

This was lovely. >:)

Thank you!

I'm realising that I'm glad this pair were my first attempt at Torchwood 'fic rather than Jack and anyone else on the team.
