Fic: ‘Tis the Season: ‘Listen to the song of the bells.’
Title: ‘Tis the Season: Listen to the song of the bells.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (G)
Time Period: tPM.
Summary: Obi-Wan listens.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

More serious than the usual ‘Tis the Season story, especially at the beginning, but this is what came to mind; a quiet, sweet beginning to this year’s stories.

“To those bells listen you should.”

Blue eyes regard the wizened Jedi Master quizzically.

“Grief you feel but listen to the bells you must.” The deep throated tolling rings gaily about the city. “Died for those bells your Master did.”

The younger Jedi frowns.

“Joy they sing. Freedom and hope.

“To the song the bells sing you must listen.” The older Jedi’s tri-fingered hand flexes on the head of the gimer stick. He studies the new Jedi Knight quietly. “Qui-Gon in them you can hear,” he softly whispers.

The younger Jedi closes his eyes; a deep breath is taken. He calms his heart, his thoughts. Slowly, a smile curves his lips. The older Jedi was right; Qui-Gon is within the ringing bells.

The older Jedi silently nods and closes his eyes to listen.

This was very nicely done; I love how it starts right in with dialogue, it makes the reader focus in on what is being said along with Obi-Wan, you know? Your Yoda never fails to delight me, even in a more sober piece such as this. Always so spot on. That last line is really great and rounds everything out. :D

I'd not realised it did that.

Your Yoda never fails to delight me, even in a more sober piece such as this.
Thank you! I like writing Yoda; my favourite paragraph for him, still, is how he was glum one day.

I'm glad he 'rings true' in this; I wasn't certain he would.

That last line is really great and rounds everything out. :D
Thank you! I almost didn't keep that line!

This is really beautifully done. There's not really enough stories out there with realistic dealings of Obi's loss; which this does perfectly.

Thank you!

This is wonderful, I love the dialogue and how Yoda wants to bring Obi-Wan out of his grief!

It felt right for 'Tis the Season to begin this way; the first line popped up and ran from there.

When I saw the Qui-Gon mention I had to read. You know me *g*.
Lovely! Sad and sweet. Yoda is wise.

Yep, I do know you! Actually, I was quite surprised to see that 'mentions of Qui-Gon' alongside the mention of the story.

Lovely! Sad and sweet. Yoda is wise.
Thank you. And could you imagine Yoda being anything except wise?

Well done. :)

“Qui-Gon in them you can hear,” he softly whispers. That brought tears to my eyes!

Such a sad time for my favorite Padawan.

Thank you!

That brought tears to my eyes!
Hopefully, they were good tears.

Such a sad time for my favorite Padawan.
One in which a good hug is needed.
